Introduction

This very dark species is primarily distributed in southeastern Australia from the Sydney basin in New South Wales to SE Tasmania. It is known from several localities in Victoria. The record from Queensland is based on two specimens in the J.W. Evans collection labelled "Burleigh" with "Q" or "QLD". It is possible that this locality record is incorrect. The locality in Queensland is Burleigh Heads while there is a locality in Victoria named Burleigh which is in the centre of the distribution of the species. It is possible that the writer of the label incorrectly assumed the locality was in Queensland. However, since the label includes reference to Queensland, the record of the species in that state is included here.

Pygophore process irregularly expanded. Second valvulae with only a few poorly defined serrations, serrate area not divided into proximal and distal sections (Stevens 1994).

Stevens (1994) also provided a comprehensive redescription and figures of the species.
