Introduction
This large dark species is known along the eastern seaboard of mainland Australia from the wet tropics of North Queensland to the Sydney basin of New South Wales.

Ecological Descriptors
All stages: phloem feeder (associated flora: Melaleuca sp. [MYRTACEAE]).
Diagnosis
Faem. Nigra, subpunctata, subtus ex parte sordide testacea; caput thorace paullo latius, vertice arcuato brevissimo, fronte facieque planis; femora basi sordide testacea; alae anticae costam versus testaceo punctatae.
Female. Black, minutely punctured, partly dingy testaceous beneath. Head a little broader than the thorax; vertex arched, extremely short, not longer in the middle than on each side; front and face flat. Mouth pale testaceous, extending to the middle coxae. Femora dingy testaceous towards the base. Fore wings with minute testaceous points, which are mostly along the costa. Length of the body 5 lines; of the wings 9 lines (Walker 1862).
Large, very dark species without strong markings or conspicuous tegminal fascia. Aedeagus with a single apical arm bearing 5 spines, ventrolaterally directed spines only narrowly attached to shaft. Pygophore process hooked, generally broadest preapically. Second valvulae narrow, with only a few poorly defined serrations, serrate area not divided into proximal and distal sections (Stevens 1994).
