Compiler and date details

9 February 2012 - Murray J. Fletcher

Introduction

This dark species with pale markings is widespread from SE Queensland to the high country of Victoria. It was "named in honour of Dr A. Neboiss, in recognition of his contribution to our knowledge of the Australian Trichoptera." The collectors of the holotype and several of the paratypes are given on the data label, and transposed by Stevens (1994), as "R.T.M.P. & A.N.B.". Ken Walker (NMV - pers. comm. 2012) advises that these initials refer to R. Trebilcock and A.N. Burns. Dr Walker also advises that Mr Trebilcock was a solicitor. The relevance of the "M.P." is unknown. A search through the parliamentary records for Victoria, New South Wales and Australia has shown that there has never been a member of any of those parliaments with the name Trebilcock.
