Lectotype BPBM 4507 ♂ (coll.: i.1905, Koebele), Mittagong, New South Wales
Comment: Stevens (1994) correctly assumed that the red "M" handwritten on the printed "Sydney, NSW" data label indicated that the specimen was from Mittagong and not Sydney. These labelling peculiarities of Kirkaldy were first explained by Medler (1987).Subsequent designation references:

Introduction
This pale brown species, the type species of the genus, is found in eastern New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. Stevens (1994) recorded Eucalyptus haemastoma Sm. (Myrtaceae) as a host.

Ecological Descriptors
All stages: phloem feeder (associated flora: Eucalyptus haemostoma Smith, 1797 [MYRTACEAE] Broad-leaved Scribbly Gum ((Stevens 1994))).
Diagnosis
Pale greyish cinereous mottled with fuscous. Face pale testaceous, frons and clypeus mostly dark fuscous, with pale specks. Tegmina hyaline, tinged with cinereous, mottled with light and dark fuscous; veins brownish, crossveins mostly whitish. Femora blackish, at least basally and dorsally, fore and middle tibiae annulated with dark fuscous at least dorsally. Sternites dark fuscous, apically bordered with testaceous, narrowly. Length 8½–9½ mm. (Kirkaldy 1907).
Pale species lacking a distinct transcephalic stripe. Aedeagus with two apical arms, posterior arm bearing two upturned, apically mounted spines. Second valvulae c. 8 x longer than maximum blade height, pregenital sternite produced and slightly indented medially, lateral sections of posterior margin not produced (Stevens 1994).
