Diagnosis

Black shiny flies, wings short, broad; black, paler basally, darker around veins. Head conical, face distinctly protruding; deep depression between antennae, no foveal depression. Antennal PP long tapering cone, more than 4x length of the pedicel, BSM absent. Facial, dorsothoracic and abdominal scales smooth, extremely shiny. Very reduced thoracic and scutellar bristles; pectinate Ma on collar, AN, LT, MT and T1; plumula, TR hairs, and Ma on T1 white. Fore-tarsal claws reduced, sparse, small, straight, tarsal microchaetae. Venation with i-r1, i-r2 absent. Abdomen with small, white abdominal scale patches laterally. Epandrium with large posterolateral flange, narrow tapering basolateral flange. Gonocoxae forming a rounded shell with slight subapical narrowing, enclosing the aedeagal complex; linear LAEA; short linear AAES; reduced R; linear EJA; hook-shaped GS, EP very broad triangle apically; T8 apodeme a thick sclerotised edge; SP with no lateral processes, nor long papillae; endplates very large, simple; SR long, narrow, thin-walled, with small scattered dimples; with a distinct apical 180ยบ bend, SR recurved at least 1/3 length.
