Species Pseudoceros sapphirinus Newman & Cannon, 1994

Introduction

Newman & Cannon (1998) report P. cruentus in association with colonial ascidians (sometimes embedded in the cloacal chamber of the ascidian) under rubble; they also report that specimens lay a bright red egg mass, one layer thick, on the test of the ascidians, and will produce a similarly coloured mucus when disturbed.
