Species Pseudobiceros damawan Newman & Cannon, 1994

 

Introduction

Found rarely at Heron Island, but common in Papua New Guinea; found in associated with colonial ascidians, but is difficult to see (Newman & Cannon 1994). This species was recorded from Western Australia by Newman & Cannon (1997), however, the specimens from Coral Bay were noted to have a reddish tinge, absent from the type specimen collected in Papua New Guinea.

Laing Island, eastern Papua New Guinea, reef crest. Madang, Papua New Guinea, reef crest, 3-5 m (depth); reef slope, 10 m (depth). Heron Island, Capricorn Bunker Group, southern Great Barrier Reef, reef slope, 10 m (depth). See Newman & Cannon (1994).

Coral Bay, Western Australia, Australia, under rocks and rubble; rare. See Newman & Cannon (1997).
