Introduction

Protorugosa burraga is distinguished from P. alpica by the smaller size and finer, more regular radial sculpture. Animal dark-grey in colour.

Diagnosis

Shell large, dark reddish brown to yellow, subglobose to turbinate; spire elevated; protoconch with rugose radial ribs, teleoconch sculptured with coarse, regular, sinuous radial ribs crossed by incomplete irregular spiral striae; umbilcus wide, V-shaped; diameter 24mm.
