Subfamily Polydectinae Dana, 1851

Diagnosis

Carapace rounded to quadrate; dorsal surface usually smooth, regions weakly indicated; may be covered in thick coat of setae. Chelipeds equal, similarly shaped, slender, chelae with fingers long, thin, cutting edges armed with pointed teeth for gripping anemones. Thoracic sternum elongate, narrow for entire length. Abdomen with first and second segments visible in dorsal view; telson of male only covering a small part of sternite 4.
