Introduction

This species is only known from the holotype from Cape York Peninsula, far North Queensland. It was named in honour of Dr Courtenay N. Smithers, of AM, who collected the holotype.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Closely resembling the type species in shape and coloration. Differing in characteristics provided by the male genitalia. Thus the pygophore is shorter and more apically acute, the aedeagus narrower, parallel-sided and very considerably longer and the subgenital plates bear a strong subapical spine (Evans 1981).
