The genus Plesiocolochirus Cherbonnier, 1946 is recognised here by its body form, usually ventrally 'sole'-like with prominent tube feet; dorsally, the tube feet are prominent in the dorso-lateral angles but may also be scattered inter-ambulacrally; the body wall is very brittle and packed with ossicles including multi-layered scales, nodular perforated plates and a superficial layer of simple, shallow 'baskets' with a basic quadri-locular design; tentacles 10, the 2 ventral-most smaller. The species P. armatus, australis, challengeri, dispar, ignava and with reservation occiduus are new combinations. See also under Cerodemas)
