Maria Is., Albany, Shark Bay, west and north coast of WA pearl oyster farms; also Arctic, amphi-Atlantic (Europe, N America, West Indian region), Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Japan, W and central Pacific Ocean.

Introduced from [country unknown] probably transported via pearl and/or edible oyster shell.
