Introduction

This distinctively coloured black and orange striped species is unmistakeable. It has been collected in rainforests in SE Queensland and NE New South Wales using light traps and malaise traps.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

A striking species black and orange in colour. Face black, except for a few transverse brown markings on the postclypeus posteriorly, and a transverse yellow marking on the frons which is continuous laterally on the vertex on each side, where it is amalgamated with the apices of a postfrontal transverse, orange stripe. Crown anteriorly black, posteriorly deep orange. Pronotum with five and scutellum with four longitudinal deep orange stripes. Tegmen hyaline yellow, apically and anteapically suffused with brown; veins broadly dark brown. Length ♂ 4 mm (Evans 1966).
