Introduction

This species is similar to P. punctata and P. pacifica, but differs from both in the triple heart-shaped knob of the oral filaments, and in its hyperhaline habitat (Gershwin 2007 personal communication).

Hyperhaline, marine.

 

Diagnosis

Rhizostomeae with some double velar lappets typical of Phyllorhiza, with marginal arrangement between two rhopaliar lappets; two single, two double, two single velar lappets, oral filament with triple heart-shaped distal knob with aperture of a branch of oral canal at the end. Always in hyperhaline waters in association with stromatolites.
