   Holotype BMNH 11.11.11.93 'puppet skin with skull and dentaries of an adult male', Dutch New Guinea [West Papua], Parimau, Mimika River [4°31'S 136°36'E].

• Phalanger orientalis (Pallas, 1766) [mistaken identity, now known to be Phalanger mimicus].

 

Introduction

Recognised as a separate species, and P. intercastellanus removed from the Australian list by Norris & Musser (2001); since the Australian population to which the CAVS number is applied has not changed in nature, the same CAVS number is used.
