Introduction

This species was added to the Australian fauna based on two specimens in the INHS collection without reference to material in Australian collections which includes four additional specimens all from the SE Queensland bioregion.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: parenchyma feeder.

 

Diagnosis

The new species can be distinguished from other described species by the presence of two stripes on the pronotum. The male genitalia are similar to those of P. punctata (Evans), but the pygofer side is shorter and serrated distally, the aedeagal shaft is curved dorsad and provided with much shorter subbasal processes and a pair of slim processes on the manubrium (Cao et al. 2019).
