Taxonomic Decision for Synonymy

 

Introduction

This species is endemic to the wet tropics of North Queensland. It is the largest Australian species of Tropudichini reaching 12 mm in length. A second, undescribed, species of the genus is found in Papua New Guinea.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Grass green. Eyes and genital segment partly brownish. Veins lightly and shortly piligerouis. Length: 11¾ mill. (Kirkaldy 1906).

Pale ochraceous, in fresh specimens probably pale virescent; vertex broader than long, anterior and lateral margins ridged, centrally longitudinally carinate; face broadly elongate, a little ampliate towards clypeus, anterior and lateral margins ridged, centrally longitudinally carinate; clypeus centrally ridged, not much more than half the length of face; pronotum angularly produced between the eyes, tricarinate; mesonotum tricarinate; tegmina with the costal area obliquely transversely veined, two series of transverse veins beyond middle enclosing a space much narrower than that between it and the apical margin; posterior tibiae with three spines. Long. excl. tegm., 7½ mm; exp. tegm 21½ to 23 mm (Distant 1907, of Ficarasa australasiae Distant).
