Diagnosis
Body. Lateral margins of cephalothorax not inflexed ventrally; cephalothorax, free prosomites and first urosomite with well developed, complex network of skeletal struts. Rostrum large and broad. Epimeral plates of free prosomites and first urosomite well developed; remaining urosomites very small, scarcely visible in dorsal view. Caudal rami slender, cylindrical, with setae IV and V not fused at base.
Antennule. 6- to 8-segmented in female.
Antenna. Exopod 2-segmented.
Mandible. Exopod absent.
Maxilliped. Basis elongate with slightly convex palmar margin; endopodal claw elongate, narrow.
P1. Exopod 3-segmented, exopod-3 with 1 or 2 stout claws and usually a more slender, geniculate claw; rest of armature reduced. Endopod 2-segmented.
P5. Baseoendopod and exopod separate.
