Species Parasesarma longicristatum (Campbell, 1967)

Introduction

Genetic and morphological analyses by Shahdadi al. 92018) clarify that Parasesarma semperi (Bürger, 1893) and P. longicristatum (Campbell, 1967), originally described as a subspecies of P. semperi from Queensland, are two separate species. The first is widespread in Southeast Asia and does not occur in Australia. The authors provide redescriptions as previous taxonomic species diagnoses were found to be unreliable.
