Comment: Westwood in the original description did not state the number of specimens described; Westwood, J.O. 1843. On the Australian Species of Papilio. Arcana Entomologica: or illustrations of new, rare and interesting insects. London : William Smith Vol. 2 pp. 81–82 [issued 1843, dated 1843–1845] [pl. 68] (figured both sexes and so probably described the species from several specimens); Waterhouse, G.A. 1936. [unpublished personal manuscript of observations made at the BMNH (Papilionidae, Pieridae, Danainae)]. Photocopy located at ANIC, Canberra, ACT. 29 pp. [5] (stated that a holotype male was present in the OUM).Type locality references:
