Family PHALANGOPSIDAE Blanchard, 1845

Introduction

A family of dark-coloured, long-legged active crickets often found communally. Characterised by the middle tarsal segment without prominent adhesive pads, head with dorsal bristles, and the hind tibia with spines between most of the spurs. Males are short-winged, females wingless.
