Remarks

Czerniavsky, V. 1882. Materialia ad Zoographiam Ponticam comparatam. Soc. Imp. Nat. Moscow, Bull. 57: 146–198 established Schmardiella based on Scharda's Cirrosyllis didymocera. No type material is extant but Schmarda's description leaves little doubt that a member of Ophiodromus is involved. Schmardiella is accordingly considered a junior synonym of Ophiodromus. Formal recognition of this is required, and of C. didymocera in the new combination
