Species Ornithonyssus bacoti (Hirst, 1913)

Introduction

This species is the subject of a very extensive literature, because it sometimes bites humans and causes skin irritation. Only a few selected references are listed here. Its biology and medical importance were reviewed by Mullen & OConnor (2009).
