Introduction

The material described by Fabricius was collected on James Cook’s first voyage to Australia in 1770, almost certainly at Cooktown in the Wet Tropics of North Queensland. Signoret (1850) gave the locality as New Holland which included the entire east coast of mainland Australia at that time but his understanding of the species was based on a misidentification of a member of the leafhopper tribe Eurymelini (Constant 2018)..The identity of the species has been established by Constant (2018) who has restricted its distribution to the Wet Tropics and Cape York Peninsula bioregions.
