Diagnosis

The most easily recognised Nephotettix species. The most important feature is the completely unmarked vertex with distinct furrow and slopingly raised submarginal area anteriorly delimited by fine ridge. Also vertex much longer in middle than next to eye. Occasionally males with partial submarginal black band present on vertex are encountered. Females, except for a few with apical third of tegmen black, are easily identifiable by immaculate head, pronotum and clavus (Ghauri 1971).

Males can also be identified by reference to the male genitalia as figured by Ghauri (1971).
