Species Neoseiulus cucumeris (Oudemans, 1930)

Introduction
This species has been the subject of considerable confusion and misidentification. Neoseiulus cucumeris has sometimes been considered as a synonym of Neoseiulus bellinus. Beard (1999, 2001) believed that the specimens referred to in the literature as N. cucumeris probably include a mixture of several species. According to Schicha (1987), the specimens identified as Typhlodromus cucumeris by Womersley (1954) were a mixture of Amblyseius loxtoni and Amblyseius masiaka. The catalogue of de Moraes et al. (2004) confirmed the occurrence of both N. bellinus and N. cucumeris in Australia, but their records show a complex series of misidentifications of both species. This subject was analysed in detail by Beard (1999) and Denmark & Evans (2011), and need not be repeated here. Neoseiulus cucumeris is being developed commercially as a biological control agent (Llewellyn 2002).
