Melbourne : CSIRO Publishing, Australia xiv 641 pp. [99] (this genus is in need of revision: many authors consider that N. ohshimai is a distinct species; Haig notes that there appear to be two distinct colour forms, one in the Pacific and one in the Indian Ocean, and I concur with this, and indeed believe them to be both good species; both species occur in Australian territorial waters, however, I am reluctant to proscribe the use of the name N. ohshimai for one or other of the two species because the type material of both described species originated from the north-western Pacific and this increases the likelihood that they may be conspecific as Haig believed; it is also possible that the two putative species occur sympatrically over at least part of their range; comparison of the numerous photographs of these animals that have been appearing in underwater guidebooks will be an important tool in resolving this question)
