Stolephorus nelsoni Wongratana, T. 1987. Two new species of anchovies of the genus Stolephorus (Engraulidae), with a key to species of Engraulis, Encrasicholina, and Stolephorus. American Museum Novitates 2876: 1-8 figs 1-2 [4, fig. 2].
Type data:
Holotype AMNH 57157, Eighty Mile Beach, 3 miles north of Wallal Homestead, WA.
Paratype(s) ROM 39271; USNM 280176 (ex AMNH 31433).

Wallal Downs, Eighty Mile Beach, WA (19º46´S) and Cleveland Bay, QLD (19º13´S); tropical.
