Diagnosis

Carapace with prominent rostrum and caudal process; rostral infold with bristles forming row; infold of caudal process with broad spinous bristles either forming row or scattered. First antenna: 2nd segment with 1 dorsal seta; 3rd segment short, fused to 4th. Second antenna: protopodite without medial bristle. Basal spines absent on exopodal segments. Mandibula: endopod of female and juveniles: ventral margin of 1st and 2nd segments each with 2 stout claws, or ventral margin of 1st segment without claws and 2nd segment with 1 claw. Maxilla: exopod with 3 bristles. Fifth limb: single segment present, exopod without teeth. Sixth limb: 3- or 4-segmented; terminal segment short; proximal bristle on posterior margin of limb short. Furca: claw 1 fused to lamella, remaining claws separated from lamella by suture. Each lamella with 5 or 6 claws; claw 3 either broader or slender than claw 4. Eyes: small lateral eyes present. Belloci organ: elongate with proximal sutures. Upper lip: consisting of simple lobe.
