Family NEOLIODIDAE Sellnick, 1928

Introduction

The family Neoliodidae is cosmopolitan, and includes four genera and 55 species world-wide (Schatz et al. 2011). Most species have been found in soil and leaf litter or under bark, and many species are arboreal (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009). The family is known from Australia only from a series of records of incompletely identified species of Liodes (Heatwole et al. 1981; Lee 1986; Hunt 1994; Colloff & Halliday 1998), Neoliodes (Lee 1986) and Teleioliodes (Hunt et al. 1998; Colloff & Halliday, 1998). Heatwole et al. (1981) also reported an unidentified species of Liodidae, and Beyer et al. (2011), Callan et al. (2011) and Majer et al. (2013) reported unidentified species of Neoliodidae. The family has sometimes been called Liodidae, but the correct name is Neoliodidae (Halliday & Majka 2010).
