Subfamily Mysidellinae Czerniavsky, 1882
Introduction
The small subfamily Mysidellinae comprises one genus and about 11 species (Price et al. 2001), known from the Caribbean Sea, the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean, the western Pacific from Japan to the South China Sea and southern Australia. Four species occurs in Australian waters. Müller (1993) and Price et al. (2001) catalogued the family.
Diagnosis
Rostrum elongate (forming a small triangular apex). Antenna 2 scale outer margin smooth, setose. Labrum asymmetrical (produced posteriorly into two unequal lobes). Mandible lacinia mobilis well developed, spine row between lacinia mobilis and molar process present, molar process well developed. Female pleopods uniramous or greatly reduced.
