Type species:
Myrmecophryne formiceticola Kirkaldy, 1906 by monotypy.
Introduction
The only species of this genus was described from the nest of an ant in sandhills in SE Queensland but has subsequently also been found in the wet tropics of North Queensland and at Darwin, Northern Territory.

Diagnosis
Oval. Vertex transverse, declivous; rounded in front, as viewed dorsally (eyes forming part of the curve), but actually slightly emarginate. Frons short, laterally rounded, very declivous to vertex, slightly convex. Clypeus little longer than broad, parallel-sided; genae rather long. Pronotum transverse, lateral margins rather short, not carinate. Posterior tibiae flattened, rather elongate. Tegmina broad, laterally rounded, venation rather obscure (Kirkaldy 1906).
