Species Myoramyxa pardalota Newman & Cannon, 1997

Introduction

Specimens of M. pardalota are a preferred prey item of the False Water-rat on Stradbroke Island, Queensland (Van Dyck, 1994; Newman & Cannon, 1997). In the wild, these flatworms are found above the tide level and envelope themselves in a thick mucus, much like that of a slug. In a laboratory setting, Newman & Cannon (1997) observed specimens to be hydrophobic, crawling away from water if placed in it.
