Introduction

This small endemic genus contains two species, both found in New South Wales and one also recorded in Tasmania. The females have remarkably long ovipositors.

Diagnosis

This genus, which has male genitalia similar to those of Zaletta Metcalf, can be distinguished by the strongly protruding eyes in facial aspect, the wrinkled scutellum, and the very long ovipositor with the second valvulae alveolate dorsolaterally (Webb 1983).

The two species can be differentiated on colour, M. tricornis being plain yellow while M. tasmaniensis, which is only known from the female, is yellow with brown markings.
