Introduction

Murphitella froggatti differs from M. franklandiensis by the smaller size and presence of strong continuous spiral grooves on the teleoconch. Animal orange-grey with white dorsal stripe. Usually found above 400 m altitude.

Ecological Descriptors

Litter-dwelling, rainforest, under logs.

 

Diagnosis

Shell medium-sized, orange-brown to yellow with irregular orange-brown streaks, subdiscoidal to flat; last whorl large and flared; protoconch with very weak, low, growth ridges and very fine microspiral striae, teleoconch sculpture of weak radial growth lines and numerous strong intersecting spiral grooves; umbilicus narrow, V-shaped; diameter 17.5mm.
