Introduction
Ślipiński et al. (2023: 159) stated that "no recent Olethrius specimens have been collected in Australia, and the existing records are based on old, introduced or mislabelled specimens.", confirming a similar observation by Jin et al. (2020). We thus exclude the genus from the Australian fauna.
