Subgenus Macropsis (Parapediopsis) Hamilton, 1980

Introduction

This small subgenus contains two species in New Guinea, one in the Philippines and one in far north Queensland. Hamilton (1980) regarded it as the most primitive subgenus of Macropsis.

Diagnosis

Body form variable, either slender or short and stout [the latter in the Australian species]. Pronotum distinctly declivous, striations coarse to fine, weakly oblique, sometimes not meeting angularly at meson. Tegminal veins usually spotted with white. Hind tibial macrosetae invariably seven. Male pygofer sclerotised on dorsal margin to apex; pygofer spine short, not reaching upper margin of pygofer, arising on ventral margin, directed dorsad (Hamilton 1980).
