Type data:
Holotype AM ♂ (coll.: E. Reye), Darwin, Northern Territory.
Introduction
This nicely marked species has been found in both the northern coastal and SE inland regions of the Northern Territory as well as several northern and western coastal districts of Western Australia. M.M. Stevens (pers. comm. 2005) considers that the species is probably not congeneric with the type species of Macroceps.

Ecological Descriptors
All stages: phloem feeder.
Diagnosis
Face of head entirely dark brown or dark reddish brown, or in part pink and in part brown. Vertex facially situated, except for a narrow crown, longest against the eyes. Pronotum not steeply declivous, ochreous in ♂, in ♀ grey with dark brown or black markings and with scribbled pale brown markings. Scutellum evenly brown or reddish brown. Tegmen pale greyish hyaline, irregularly mottled with brown, the brown markings denser in ♂ than in ♀; veins brown, in part white. Length ♂ 6.2, ♀ 8 mm (Evans 1966).
