Genus Macroasteropteron Kornicker, 1994

Introduction

There is only one specimen known for the type species Macroasteropteron mindax Kornicker, 1994 (Kornicker 1994). However, the species has such distinctive features that a new genus was erected to contain it. The seventh limb has a bulbous terminal process, unique in the family. The endopod of the second antenna lacks the typical terminal seta, and the maxilla is so atypical as to be considered possibly aberrant.
