Diagnosis

From the L. bombyliformis group, differing from bombyliformis in the following characters: (1) underside of thorax with dark hairs only; (2) 5 submarginal cells; (3) first posterior cell rather widely open; (4) entire surface of wing distinctly smoky, and anterior basal area slightly more intensely so; colour of axillary, anal and both basal cells very uniform; (5) the dark spots at the crossing points of veins poorly developed; about 8 spots altogether; (6) upperside of abdomen uniformly covered with yellowish scales, which at apex are not white but slightly paler yellowish; (7) underside as in bombyliformis, but the dark colour is better pronounced at the sides; (8) vein r-m at middle of discal cell. The female is similar to the male, except for a much broader vertex.
