Diagnosis
♂. Ground colour of head dark. Upper part of frons with whitish scales, which become silvery white above the base of antennae, and white on the middle of face. Some black hairs also present on face and on upper part of frons. Style of third antennal segment about half as long as the segment itself. A narrow, white stripe of scales behind the hind margin of eyes, remainder of occiput yellow.
Mesonotum dark, collar yellow, and 2 distinct white, longitudinal stripes at the sides. All bristles black. Short hairs black; scales also short, yellowish. Underside of thorax with yellow hairs and black bristle-like hairs. Legs reddish with dark scales. Halteres brownish. Scutellum reddish, with black bristles.
About two-thirds of wing hyaline, the brown colour occupying only the base as far as the "oblique vein", then running along m1 to r-m, and along r2+3 to the end of subcostal vein. 4 submarginal cells; first posterior cell closed; vein r-m distinctly before middle of discal cell. Vein m2 S-shaped. Second and third posterior cells equal at apex.
Dorsum of abdomen dark at base, but reddish on the remainder; tergites covered with yellow-reddish scales, with an admixture of black hairs laterally. A very well-marked cross-band of pure white scales along anterior third of second tergite. Lower genital plate broadly bilobate, with dense, yellow hairs at apices.
