Diagnosis

. Head orange-red, only a spot on vertex is dark; ocellarium yellow. Occiput with yellow scales. Frons and face with yellow scales and black hairs. Neck cavity black; proboscis black; palpi yellow, extremely thin.
Mesonotum black; humeral and postalar calli and the sides (narrowly) reddish orange; all hairs yellow; bristles black. Pleura mainly reddish orange, only mesopleuron dark; hairs yellow. Legs, including coxae, orange-yellow, with black spicules and yellow scales. Halteres yellow. Wings predominantly brown, only the apex and posterior cells being partly hyaline; 4 submarginal cells; first posterior cell open. Vein r-m almost at middle of discal cell; veins M1 and M2 S-shaped,
comparatively short. Colour pattern more strongly developed than in other species, trifasciated: 1 fascia at base; another very broad one running across the base of discal cell and almost reaching the hind margin of wing; and one running across the apex of discal cell, almost touching the hind margin, with a branch running almost to the apex of first posterior cell. More than half of the posterior cell dark, and vein R4+5 bordered on both sides by dark colour; the interradial vein also bordered by dark colour.
Dorsum of abdomen (rubbed) bright orange-red, with diminishing black spots on tergites 2-6; lateral parts of tergites with yellowish adpressed scales and black hairs. Underside uniformly orange-red. Abdomen comparatively long and broad.
