Diagnosis
♂. Head black, with dense, yellow adpressed scales; face orange; frons with short, black, erect hairs. At hind indentations of eyes the scales appear more whitish. Antennae reddish (third segment missing), with short, black and yellow hairs. Occiput, viewed from above, very long, almost half as long as eye. Vertex, 12 : 4 : 12, proboscis dark; mouth cavity long and narrow.
Thorax black, with dense yellow hairs in front and on the sides, and with a shorter, depressed, yellow tomentum in the disc. Bristles black. Scutellum reddish, with yellow tomentum and rather long, black marginal bristles. Underside of thorax mostly yellow-haired. Legs yellow, tarsi dark; spicules black, scales yellow. Halteres yellow.
Wings distinctly brownish on the entire surface, the basal half (obliquely) more intensely so; there is no distinct line dividing the colour pattern of the wing into 2 parts. Colour slightly darker along the veins. Squamae alares yellow; 4 submarginal cells. Vein r-m at middle of discal cell. Cell M2 S-shaped; second posterior cell half as long as the third. Alula broad and long. Basicosta with yellow scales.
Dorsum of abdomen dark, but sides and apex narrowly orange-yellow; entire surface covered with narrow, depressed, yellow scales, and with yellow hairs laterally. Some poorly developed black hairs dispersed mostly laterally. Underside yellow, with yellow hairs and scales.
