Diagnosis
♂ & ♀. Ground colour of head, scutellum and abdomen reddish; that of thorax, brown.
Hairs on head mostly black. A narrow white stripe of scales behind the hind margin on eyes. Thorax with white "collar", black bristles, and very short yellowish and black hairs; sides with a narrow, white longitudinal stripe. Mesopleura with long yellow and black semi-bristles. Legs reddish, with black scales. Halteres brownish.
Wings mostly brown, only the apical part nearly hyaline; boundary between coloured and hyaline parts very unclear; 4 submarginal cells. First posterior cell rather broadly open at apex. Vein r-m slightly before middle of discal cell. Vein M2 nearly straight. Axillary cell very broad, about twice as broad as anal cell.
Abdomen with yellowish scales, which at the base and apex are almost white; 4 basal tergites in male with median black spots diminishing in size towards apex of abdomen; in female, apart from the black, narrow median stripe, the last segments are also black. Hairs very short, sparse, mostly black. Both lobes of lower genital plate in male broadly separated, with combs of black hairs at apices.
