Diagnosis
♂: Head yellow, with moderately dense black hairs on face and frons. Antennae yellow; style shorter than first antennal segment.
Mesonotum: sparse yellowish scales and yellow collar. Pleura predominantly yellow-haired (in commoni, predominantly black). Tuft of hairs in front of halteres yellow, (black in commoni). Submarginal cells not corrugated (in commoni, corrugated). First posterior cell closed. Legs brown.
Abdomen: short, dorsum reddish, with a dark median stripe; tergites 2 and 5 with whitish scales; third and fourth tergites with yellowish scales. Underside wholly whitish scaled, except for the last 2 sternites, which are yellowish scaled; dark lateral stripes absent.
