Genus Leuroleberis Kornicker, 1981

Introduction

Leuroleberis differs from its fellow tribe members in having both a claw-like a-seta and a smooth rostral anterior margin. Kornicker (1981) placed two new species into this genus along with three new combinations. The type species is Leuroleberis sharpei Kornicker 1981; there are six species.

Diagnosis

Anterior margin of rostrum with bordering rim with smooth inner edge. Surface with shallow fossae bearing short bristle emerging from closed pore; bottom of fossae with reticulate structure; ridges anterior to fossae expanding well past end of fossae. First antenna: 5th segment: dorsal margin without teeth or nodes; sensory bristle with 2–4 short proximal filaments and 12–15 long filaments. 7th segment: a-bristle claw-like, bare. Fifth limb: dorsal margin of comb of adult male with only 1 process. Furca: each lamella with 3 stout claws followed by 8–10 secondary bristle-like claws.
