Diagnosis
Carapace with dorsal surface smooth. Frontal region narrowed and produced anteriorly. Eyes very minute. Anterior part of pterygostome ending in circular depression behind orbit; thoracic sinus (shallow pit) present in front of and above bases of chelipeds. Third maxilliped with merus shorter than half length of ischium measured along inner border. Chelipeds with palm swollen; fingers slender; dactylus typically closing vertically, but sometimes in horizontal plane. Female abdomen enlarged, discoid.
