Species Leptogorgia divergens Studer, 1878

Introduction

Re Euplexaura divergens: Subsequent to his 1909 paper, in his 1924 publication Kükenthal recorded his decision to place the species in the genus Euplexaura as uncertain. The colony shape and the large size of the sclerites indicate the taxon is unlikely to be a species of Euplexaura and is more likely to be species of Astrogorgia [Alderslade this work, 2015].

Ecological Descriptors

Hard bottom, marine, sessile.

Taxonomic note

True identity unknown. Leptogorgia does not occur in Australia or its territories.
