Type species:
Leades rufinus Jacobi, 1928 by original designation.
Introduction
This genus was created to include a single species from Western Australia based on two female syntypes. Löcker (2020) established the identity of the type species and added another five species, four of which were new, extending the distribution of the genus to all mainland Australian states.

Diagnosis
The body shape of Leades is short and stout. The frons is usually wider than long in midline (rarely as wide as long) and lacks a median ocellus. The frontoclypeal suture is strongly semicircular, bent upwards with the median part reaching at least the lower margin of antennal scape. The pronotum is very short. Five or more platellae are found on the second hind tarsomere. Leades can be distinguished from all other Australian Cixiini by the following combination of characters: median carina of frons unforked; radius anterior (RA) unforked, second hind tarsomere with five or more platellae (always two fewer platellae than apical teeth) male anal style distinctly longer than remainder of 11th segment (Löcker 2020).
