Introduction

A genus found in China and island groups of the western Pacific and which has two species distributed in coastal areas of the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales. In general appearance, the species are delicate insects with a dorsal white stripe extending from the front of the head to the tip of the scutellum. This feature is also found in other genera, notably Sogatella but features of the male genitalia distinguish these genera (Asche & Wilson 1990).

Diagnosis

Latristria differs from Sogatella and all other genera displaying the white longitudinal stripe across the vertex, pronotum and mesonotum in the shape of the diaphragm which mediodorsally forms a broad plate-like protrusion with rounded lobe-like lateral edges. The parameres are long and slender with tapering or truncate apex, parameres in repose almost reaching the laterodorsal corners of the genital segment. (Asche & Wilson 1990)
